Leonel Sousa

Leonel Sousa is a Full Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Instituto Superior Técnico, where they have been a faculty member since 1992. They earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the same institution in 1996. Sousa is a Senior Researcher at INESC-ID and has contributed significantly to research in VLSI architectures, computer architectures, and parallel computing, authoring over 200 publications and receiving multiple best paper awards. They have served in various leadership roles, including as President of INESC-ID and Head of the ECE Department at IST, and have held visiting professorships at institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University and the Technical University of Delft.
