Wilfried Strauch

Wilfried Strauch is the General Director of the Central American Tsunami Advisory Center (CATAC), where they supervise the Nicaraguan Earthquake Early Warning System and provide advisory support on disaster prevention in Nicaragua and Central America. With a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the Academy of Sciences Berlin, Wilfried has extensive experience in seismic monitoring, early warning systems, and disaster risk assessment across Central and South America. They previously served as the Scientific Director at the Seismological Observatory of Western Panama and have held consulting roles in various organizations focused on seismic and volcanic hazard assessments. Wilfried's commitment to improving tsunami warning systems and disaster mitigation strategies has significantly impacted geoscientific research in the region.
