Mick Mackey

Cruise Leader / Aerial Surveyor

Mick Mackey has extensive experience in marine and wildlife studies, beginning with a role as a Zoological Field Assistant for the British Antarctic Survey from October 2009 to March 2012, focusing on monitoring Antarctic Fur Seal and Leopard Seal populations. Following this, Mick served as a Wilderness Guide at Malangen Resort from October 2014 to April 2015, coordinating Northern Lights tours and presenting relevant information about the Aurora Borealis. Since June 2015, Mick has worked at University College Cork, Ireland, as a Cruise Leader and Aerial Surveyor, conducting aerial surveys of marine mammal and seabird populations in Irish territorial waters. Mick holds a Bachelor of Marine, Aquatic, and Antarctic Studies with a specialization in Sea Ice Algae from the University of Tasmania, completed between 1988 and 1995.
