David Byrne has held a variety of roles in the software engineering industry since 1985. David began their career at Microsoft Corporation, first as a Senior Software Design Engineer from 1985-1991, then as a Senior Consultant from 1991-1998. In 2003, they joined Terra Technology as Director of Engineering, where they were responsible for software development, software QA, and IT systems. David was later promoted to Vice President of Engineering and became a member of the 5-person executive Board of Managers. In 2016, they joined E2open as Vice President - Engineering, where they were responsible for development and testing of the Terra product line. David was also a member of the Field Leaders Council. In 2018, they became a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Nugatory Semiotics. In 2019, they were a Senior Software Development Engineer (contract) at Swan Island Networks. Currently, they are a Senior Software Engineer at InfluxData, where they add features and fixes bugs in their open source time series database written in Go, InfluxDB, with a focus on extremely high speed data ingestion, entropy reduction in replicated data, and cluster stability.
David Byrne attended Shady Side Academy from 1975 to 1979, where they earned their High School Diploma. David then attended Yale University from 1979 to 1985, where they earned their B.A. in Computer Science.
