Derek Leebaert

Derek cofounded Linquateq (telecom data interoperability middleware) in 1996, backed by Polaris Ventures, which he sold in 2001 to SONUS Networks. He then co-founded MAP AG, the Zurich management consulting firm which combined a spinoff from A. T. Kearney & Co. with an SOI-based assessment system. For nine years he also served on the board of directors of Providence Health (Ascension). Previously he had been chief economist at the Information Technology Industry Council and a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard’s Center for Science and International Affairs. He has a D.Phil. from Oxford University (Economics, 1984), a MIPA from Columbia University (1975), and a BA from Vanderbilt (1973). Derek is coauthor of the MIT Press trilogy on the IT revolution, and, among other books, the author of To Dare and To Conquer: Special Operations and the Destiny of Nations, about selecting and leading elite units.
