Valence Howden

Valence Howden has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several companies and industries. They started their career in 1994 at Bell Canada, where they worked in sales and service. From 1994 to 1997, they also served as a Bell Onsite Support employee. Valence then joined CGI in 1997 and worked as a Service Delivery Manager for over a decade, overseeing the delivery of Tier 1 Outsourced services and building relationships with clients.

In 2010, Valence joined eHealth Ontario as a Service Level Manager, where they implemented Operational Level Agreements and played a key role in Service Design and Transition. They later became a Service Manager, responsible for developing service agreements, aligning with clients, and driving governance alignment and control objectives.

Valence's career then took them to Ontario Health, where they served as a Manager of Process Governance and Service Design from 2012 to 2015. In this role, they ensured the successful design and operation of IT processes, acted as a best practice advisory source, and researched industry best practices for process improvement.

In 2014, Valence co-founded A Lady With a Plan Inc., where they served as Owner, Co-Founder, and CIO until 2019. They then joined Infotech Research Group in 2015 as a Senior Manager - CIO Advisory, providing best practice research, sales support, and advisory consulting services to clients. They quickly progressed to the role of Director - CIO Advisory, leading client engagements, developing the research agenda, managing a team of research managers, and providing strategic guidance and mentorship to senior IT leaders.

Valence's most recent role is with ISO - International Organization for Standardization, where they serve as the Canadian Co-chair for SCC and ISO Committee Member through SCC for ISO 20000 and ISO 38500.

Overall, Valence Howden has a wealth of experience in IT governance, risk management, service management, and consulting, with a proven track record of delivering value to organizations.

Valence Howden received a B.Sc in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto Scarborough in the period of 1989-1994. They also obtained certifications such as ITIL Expert Managing Across the Lifecycle, COBIT Assessor, and ITIL 4 Managing Professional. Additionally, they completed various professional development courses in areas such as SOA Governance and Active Leadership.
