Max Baak is the Chapter Lead of Data Science at ING Bank, focusing on Wholesale Banking Advanced Analytics since 2019. Previously, Max served as Chief Data Scientist at KPMG from 2015 to 2019 and contributed as Research Staff at CERN between 2011 and 2015. Max completed a PhD at Nikhef while also working as a Visiting Research Scientist at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Max holds a Master's degree in Physics, awarded cum laude, from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Most recently, Max was a Guest Scientist at the University of Amsterdam from 2021 to 2023.
