Mike Rees

Mike Rees is the current Director at ING. Mike has also held positions at Athla Capital Management, Mauritius Africa FinTech Hub, Standard Chartered Bank, Research England Council, Satsanga, and Strategic Vitality.

Rees began their career in finance as the Vice President of Finance at Morgan Guaranty Trust Bank from 1980 to 1990. Mike then transitioned to Standard Chartered Bank where they served as the Regional Head of Global Markets from 1990 to 2000 and as Deputy CEO from 2000 to 2016. In this role, Rees was responsible for Wholesale Banking, Consumer Banking, Private Banking, and all bank revenues. Mike successfully repositioned business strategies for alignment with the Wholesale Bank and developed effective organizational structures and teams to deliver upon these strategies. Rees also chaired many committees during their time at Standard Chartered Bank, such as the Private Equity Investment Committee and the Responsibility and Reputation Risk Committee.

In 2016, Rees left Standard Chartered Bank to start their own company, Strategic Vitality. Mike served as the Founder of Strategic Vitality from 2016 to 2019 before taking on their current role as Director at ING.

Mike Rees has a BSc (Hons.) in Accounting, Law and Economics from Aston University and is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
