Mark Smith began their career in 2005 as an Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot. In this role, they managed multiple departments daily and frequently managed the store as acting store manager. Mark also opened and closed the store as a key-carrying manager and helped open 3 new stores. In 2007, they took on a role as a Fly Fishing Guide, providing guided fly fishing trips for trophy trout at multiple stretches of private water in North Georgia. Mark also guided many corporate clients and helped coordinate annual corporate group fly fishing trips across the country. In 2010, they joined Ingenious Med as an Integration Analyst II, where they supported the company's ASP/Web-based application and took on interface development projects in a Windows development environment. Mark spent time between application support (MS SQL, application research, network troubleshooting) and data interface implementation and development, working closely with the customer support and development teams.

Mark Smith attended Parkview High School, followed by Winthrop University from 1999 to 2001. Mark then attended The University of Georgia from 2001 to 2004, where they obtained a BS in Resource Management. Mark also obtained three certifications from CompTIA and Cisco in 2016: CompTIA Network+ ce, CISCO Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT), and CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
