We develop a sensor for high performance wear detection in gearboxes and lubrication systems. The vision which motivates us is to revolutionize the way condition monitoring is done and bring mechanical engineering into the 21st century. Our technology increases the measured information of wear particles during operation, thus a real-time monitoring is possible. This exact knowledge of the condition of the gearbox at any time enables the optimization of maintenance procedure based on measured parameters. Moreover, the technology provides critical parameters which increases the safety during operation. The measured data can also be used as input for existing software-based condition monitoring systems and significantly increase their efficiency.
