Randall Shultz

SVP R&D Commercialization at InnerPlant

Randall Shultz has a diverse background in the field of biotechnology and agriculture. Randall started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at North Carolina State University, where they focused on genomics and biochemistry of DNA replication in plants. Randall'swork on this project resulted in significant funding for the team.

Following their time at the university, Shultz joined Monsanto Company, where they held various leadership roles. Randall led the Gene Expression Technology team, which focused on delivering gene expression elements critical to the success of agricultural biotech solutions. Randall also led the Biotech Vector Strategy team and the Dicot Transformation Production team, both contributing to the development of the next generation of ag biotech products.

Shultz then joined Inari as the Director of R&D, where they built a world-class team to deliver a gene editing platform for crop breeding innovation. Randall demonstrated strategic thinking and contributed to the company's corporate vision. Randall was later promoted to the role of Global Crop Lead, where they collaborated with stakeholders, conducted strategic planning, and managed products through the pipeline.

After their time at Inari, Shultz held the role of Chief Technology Officer at Arcadia Biosciences, where they led research and development efforts for high-value, healthy food ingredients. Randall also served as the Vice President of Research and Development, overseeing the company's portfolio of products.

Shultz has also been involved in the leadership of industry organizations. Randall served on the Board of Directors for BioForward, a state association representing Wisconsin's bioscience industry. Randall also served as the President of the Board of Directors for BioForward, where they demonstrated a vision for biotechnology's transformative potential in Wisconsin.

Furthermore, Shultz has experience as a consultant at AgTech Consultants and as a co-owner of Craved By Dogs, a company focused on providing CBD products for pets.

Currently, Shultz holds the position of SVP R&D Commercialization at InnerPlant, where they are responsible for leading and commercializing research and development efforts.

Randall Shultz completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1994 to 1998. Randall then pursued their Ph.D. in Functional Genomics at North Carolina State University, where they studied from 2000 to 2007.
