In this role, they led the hot fire test of the hybrid rocket motor and was responsible for building the hot fire test field and test facilities. Soojong later joined the Research Institute for Aerospace Engineering and Technology as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they managed a project for the development of combustion technology for hybrid rocket propulsion systems. Soojong performed various tasks such as documentation, budget and manpower management, project scheduling, and verification/validation planning.

Soojong then moved on to Technion - Israel Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Here, they took on the role of principal researcher on a project focused on the performance prediction of a ducted rocket combustor. Soojong led the ramjet hot fire test and system integration, performed turbulent combustion modeling using CFD, and was responsible for data analysis, performance optimization, project scheduling, and verification/validation planning.

Following that, Soojong worked as a Researcher at the Center for Reliability Engineering in Mechanical and Aerospace Industry and as a Senior Researcher at Hanwha Corporation.
