Janelle Marker has a wealth of work experience, beginning with their role as a Corps Member for Teach for America in 2009. Janelle then worked as a High School English Teacher for the San Jose Unified School District in 2009. In 2012, they were a Leadership Intern for Unlocking Potential. From 2013 to 2021, Janelle held multiple roles for various companies, including Instructional Coach and Head of Student Life for Leadership Public Schools: Richmond, Lead Instructor for CollegeSpring, Instructional Coach for Match Education, School Site Director and Instructional Lead for Teach For America, and most recently, Learning Experience Designer for inquirED.

Janelle Marker obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication and Media Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 2009. Janelle then went on to earn their Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Education Policy and Management from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2013. In 2010, Janelle obtained their Single Subject Teaching Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and in 2017 they obtained their Administrative Services Credential from the same institution.
