Benjamin Weigel

Benjamin Weigel is a research scientist at the French National Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) in Nouvelle-Aquitaine Bordeaux, focusing on the functional trajectories of estuarine biodiversity and habitat restoration in the context of global change. They previously held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Helsinki and conducted a project research role with HELCOM. Benjamin earned a PhD with honors at Åbo Akademi, where they studied the diversity and function of benthic fauna under environmental change. Their educational background includes a diploma in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography from the University of Kiel and a master's degree from GEOMAR Helmholtz-Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel.
