Michael Vasmer currently holds a Starting Faculty Position at Inria, a role commenced in January 2025. Additionally, Vasmer is an Associate Member at the Institute for Quantum Computing since May 2024 and has served as a Visiting Fellow, Research Scientist, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Perimeter Institute from October 2019 to December 2025. Previous experience includes serving as a Senior Quantum Architecture Scientist and Quantum Error Correction Researcher at Xanadu from April 2021 to December 2024, and postdoctoral research at the Institute for Quantum Computing from October 2019 to September 2022. Vasmer also worked as a PhD Tutor at The Brilliant Club from June 2017 to September 2019 and completed summer research positions at Durham University in 2013 and 2014. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Quantum Computing from UCL (2016-2019), a Master of Research in Quantum Technologies from UCL (2015-2016), and an MSci in Physics and Computer Science from Durham University (2011-2015).
