Dan Gunter began their career in 2009 as a Senior Residential Technology Advisor at Baylor University. In 2010, they joined the United States Air Force as a Cyber Warfare Officer. In 2017, Dan moved to Dragos, Inc. where they served as Director of Research & Development and Principal Threat Analyst. In this role, they designed and implemented tools in a variety of programming languages, conducted threat hunts, security assessments and incident response, and leveraged both open-source and internal tools. In 2020, Dan became the Founder & CEO of Insane Forensics.
Dan Gunter has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Baylor University, a Graduate Certificate in Incident Response from SANS Technology Institute (completed in 2019), and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Louisville. Dan has also obtained several certifications, including a Certificate in Innovation Leadership from MIT Bootcamps (obtained in April 2020), GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM) from GIAC Certifications (obtained in August 2019), Security+ from CompTIA (obtained in July 2010), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council (obtained in September 2010), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)², GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), GIAC Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA), and GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC).
