Danielle Kwan-Lafond

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar at SSHRC-CRSH

Danielle Kwan-Lafond is an accomplished academic and community leader with extensive experience in education and program development. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at the University of Toronto Scarborough since July 2020, Kwan-Lafond has also held the position of Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council since April 2011. In addition to these roles, Kwan-Lafond has been the Program Director at Drum Artz Studio and Community Centre and Drum Artz Canada since 2008 and co-founded Para el Mundo (PaM) Canada in April 2005, where Kwan-Lafond works as a Volunteer Program Liaison. Previous roles include professorships at Centennial College and leadership as the President of the Board of Directors at CommunityForward. Kwan-Lafond's academic background includes a Master of Education in Sociology and Equity Studies in Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Social Work from Ryerson University. Research interests encompass youth studies, sociology of education, and political economy.
