Albert Ko

Co-Founder at Insight Robotics

Albert Ko has worked in various roles since 1996. Albert began their career as a Mechanical Engineer at Tech Corporation before becoming a Volunteer Engineer at Medecins Sans Frontieres Holland in 2001. In 2006, they became a Senior Research Assistant at The University of Hong Kong and in 2008, a Project Manager at Medecins Sans Frontieres (Hong Kong). From 2009 to 2017, Albert Ko was Co-Founder of Insight Robotics Ltd., Director of Gallant Ho Experiential Learning Centre, Head of Student Development Programme, CEDARS and Senior Student Advising Officer at The University of Hong Kong, and from 2012 to 2017, Founding Deputy Master at Chi Sun College. In 2017, they became Director of Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative, Director of Service-Learning, and Adjunct Associate Professor at Lingnan University. In 2022, Albert Ko will be a Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto and a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge.

Albert Ko has an extensive education history. Albert obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2006. In 2019, they attended a Short Course in Design for a Better World at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Albert also completed a d.school program in Human-centered Design at Stanford University in 2018. Albert Ko also attended a Short Course in Physical Computing at the University of the Arts London in 2019 and an Entrepreneurship for Faculty Growth Programm Short Course at Babson College in 2019. In 2002, they obtained a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Hong Kong. Albert also attended Lime House School from 1986 to 1991 for Secondary School. Additionally, Albert Ko has obtained two certifications: Fellow from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in 2021 and Emergency Water and Sanitation Training from Red Cross Germany.
