Femke E. Bakker

Femke E. Bakker is a Senior Assistant Professor at the Institute of Political Science, Leiden University, with experience in teaching, research, and meditation. Currently, Bakker teaches meditation on Insight Timer and serves as the founder of The SelfGentleness Academy, offering resources and courses on self-gentleness and meditation. With a background in political science, Bakker has held various academic roles, including Assistant Professor at Universiteit Leiden and Associate Researcher at the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research. Bakker earned a PhD in Political Science from Leiden University and has also been involved as a book review editor for Acta Politica and as a jury member for the Thorbecke Prijs. Additionally, Bakker has trained as a meditation teacher through the Veda Center.
