Tom Heightman

Tom Heightman has a strong background in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry. Tom is currently serving as the SVP Research at Insmed Incorporated since August 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Chief R&D Officer at Adrestia Therapeutics from October 2021 to August 2023. Tom also held positions at AstraZeneca as the VP Global Head Oncology Chemistry from July 2019 to September 2021, and at Astex Pharmaceuticals as the VP Medicinal Chemistry & Research Alliances from April 2017 to June 2019. Tom's experience also includes being the Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Astex Therapeutics from January 2011 to March 2017, and serving as the Principal Investigator, Chemical Biology at Structural Genomics Consortium from April 2008 to January 2011. Tom began their career at GlaxoSmithKline, where they held various positions including Head, Lead Discovery Chemistry, NGI CEDD from March 2007 to March 2008, and Manager, 7TM Systems Chemistry from January 2001 to February 2007.

Tom Heightman completed their PhD in Organic Chemistry & Enzymology from ETH Zürich from 1993 to 1998. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford, although the specific duration of this degree is unknown.
