Tom Farr has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Tom began their career at Airbus in 2007, where they worked as a Technical Upgrade Management Services for a year. In 2010, Tom joined the University of Surrey as a PhD Wind Turbine Aerodynamics research student, conducting wind tunnel studies and analyzing the operation and wake behavior of model wind turbines. Tom completed their doctorate in 2014. From 2014 to 2015, Tom worked at Your Hydro Ltd as a Hydro Design/Project Engineer. Tom then moved on to INSPHERE Ltd in 2016, starting as a Metrology Engineer. Tom later became a Product Line Manager in August 2019 and, more recently, a Development and Production Engineer/Manager in January 2021. Tom's work experience demonstrates their expertise in engineering, project management, and research.

Tom Farr attended Whitecross Secondary School from 1998 to 2003, where they completed their GCSE. Tom then enrolled at the Royal Forest of Dean College from 2003 to 2005 and obtained an A-Level in Mathematics, Physics, and ICT. Afterward, they pursued a degree program in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Surrey from 2005 to 2010, earning an MEng degree. Finally, Tom continued their studies at the same university, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the field of study focused on "The Effect of Atmospheric and Wake Turbulence on Wind Turbines and Wind Turbine Wakes" from 2010 to 2015.
