Edison Lin

Edison Lin is currently the Director & Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property at Instacart. Prior to this, they were the Senior Director, Patent Enforcement at TiVo from February 2019 to July 2020. From September 2018 to January 2019, they were the Director of Intellectual Property, US at Bitmain.

Lin has experience in patent and trademark prosecution, patent acquisition, and IP transactions. Edison has also conducted invention disclosure meetings and managed in-house patent engineers and outside patent prosecution counsel. In addition, they have reviewed and revised draft patent applications and delivered "patent 101" training to Bitmain engineers in various locations such as San Jose, Phoenix, Beijing, Taipei, Hsinchu, and Netherlands.

As the Senior Director, Patent Enforcement at TiVo, Lin was responsible for leading the company's patent enforcement efforts. This included identifying potential infringers, negotiating and drafting cease-and-desist letters, and coordinating with outside counsel on litigation matters. Edison also worked with TiVo's licensing team on developing licensing strategies for TiVo's patent portfolio.

Edison Lin graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. Edison then went on to earn their Master's degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from Columbia Engineering. Edison later attended The University of Texas at Austin, where they earned their Doctor of Law (JD) degree. Lin also holds a certification from MIT Professional Education in Machine Learning: From Data to Decisions.
