Ricky Shafer

Ricky Shafer is a Senior Data Scientist at Instacart since January 2024, following a tenure as Director of Data Science and Data Scientist at Quanata from July 2019 to January 2024. Previously, Ricky served as a Senior Data Scientist at Esurance from April 2016 to July 2019, leading a team to build generalized linear models (GLMs) for auto insurance pricing and engineering data pipelines with significant datasets. Prior experience includes working as a Modeling Analyst at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies, where statistical models were developed to guide homeowners insurance pricing. Ricky holds a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from James Madison University.
