Michael Lum is a seasoned design leader with extensive experience in product design and user experience across various organizations. Currently serving as Director of Product Design at Instructure since August 2023, Michael previously held the position of Director and Head of Design at Newsela, where oversight included a 17-member Product Design team focused on enhancing user experiences for K-12 education. Michael's career also features significant roles at WW (formerly Weight Watchers), where leadership encompassed Growth and Foundations design teams, and freelance work at Lum Studios, specializing in user experience and visual design. Michael's educational background includes an MA in Communication Art & Design from the Royal College of Art and a BFA in Visual Communications from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
