Rick Murch-Shafer

Rick Murch-Shafer is an experienced professional in academic technology with a diverse background spanning over two decades. Currently serving as the Director of Academic Technology at the University of Nebraska System since January 2019 and previously as Assistant Director, Murch-Shafer has also contributed to Instructure as a Trainer focused on the Canvas Learning Management System. Past roles include Lead Instructional Technologist and Manager of Technology Support at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Manager of Information Technology at Creighton University, and Software Support Analyst at Iowa Western Community College. Murch-Shafer's career began at Buena Vista University, where responsibilities included establishing a Teaching and Learning with Technology Center. Educational qualifications include an MS in Geology and a BS in Environmental Geology from the University of Wyoming, as well as a BS in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
