Gilbert Harrap began their career as a Second Lieutenant in the British Army, where they served as a Gap Year Officer in the 1st Battalion Scots Guards. During this time, they commanded 1 Platoon, which consisted of 16 men and 4 Warrior Tanks.
After their military service, Harrap joined Amlin as an Underwriter in 2009, where they worked until 2015.
In 2016, they pursued an MBA at INSEAD and completed the program within the same year.
Harrap then joined MS Amlin in 2017, initially working as a Strategy Manager until 2018. From 2018 until 2021, they served as the Head of Strategy - Reinsurance.
In 2021, Harrap co-founded InsurX and assumed the role of CEO & Co-Founder. InsurX is a platform that digitally connects insurance brokers and carriers to facilitate the trading of complex commercial insurance risk. The company utilizes proprietary algorithmic matching technology and aims to improve the effectiveness of market participants.
Gilbert Harrap's education history begins in 2006 when they enrolled at the University of Bristol. Gilbert completed their studies in Geographical Sciences in 2009.
After a few years, in 2016, Gilbert attended INSEAD and obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.).
In terms of additional certifications, Gilbert achieved a GMAT score of 700 out of 800 in May 2015. Gilbert also obtained a Level 1 CFA certification from the CFA Institute in July 2012. Prior to that, in August 2011, Gilbert received the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification from the American Institute For Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, as well as the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute in March 2011. Additionally, they obtained an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) certification from the American Institute For Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters in February 2011.
