Robert M. Risch

Chief Quality Officer at Integrative Emergency Services

Dr. Robert M. Risch is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with over 20 years of Emergency Medicine and leadership experience. He is passionate about education, quality, and process improvement, which he implements through his numerous roles in multiple healthcare organizations. Dr. Risch serves as the Chief Quality Officer at IES and is responsible for assembling a team of clinical leaders who accelerate knowledge translation to deploy and measure numerous quality programs implemented by IES. This has been accomplished through education and clinical informatics, which provides real-time feedback to frontline Emergency Medicine physicians.

Since 2011, Dr. Risch has served as the Medical Director and Chairman of the Emergency Department at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas, a level II trauma center. He also previously served as Chairman of the Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance Best Care Subcommittee on Emergency Medicine. At IES, Dr. Risch develops and directs the annual IES Quality Summit, the largest conference in Texas, focused solely on improving the quality of care in emergency medicine through evidence-based practices. The Quality Summit is designed to share best practices with approximately 400 frontline physicians and APPs, including hospital administrators and key stakeholders, who are dedicated to enhancing healthcare delivery through emergency medicine. Dr. Risch’s particular areas of clinical focus include sepsis and trauma. Additionally, he serves as the institutional Sepsis Work Group Chairman and recently joined the Emergency Department Benchmarking Alliance Board.

Dr. Risch graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, with a degree in microbiology, attended medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He received a Master in Business Administration from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, while working in a Level I Trauma Center in Savannah, Georgia. He also served on the Georgia College of Emergency Physicians Board, with expertise in clinical informatics, and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
