Gregory D. Smith

Board Member at Intel

Gregory D. Smith was elected to Intel’s board of directors as an independent director in March 2017. Smith is the president and founder of Sea3 Ent LLC and was executive vice president of Enterprise Operations and chief financial officer at Boeing Co., the world’s largest aerospace company and one of the largest U.S. exporters, until his retirement in July 2021.

Smith led Boeing’s Enterprise Operations, Finance and Strategy organization. In this role, he managed the company’s overall financial activities and drove operational excellence by overseeing the company’s manufacturing, operations, supply chain, quality and program management functions. Smith was also responsible for the delivery of enterprise services across the company and oversaw the company’s strengthened focus on sustainability. In addition, he had executive responsibility for the company’s global financing arm, Boeing Capital Corp., and oversaw the company’s corporate audit function, which reports directly to the board of directors.

Smith has three decades of in-depth global aerospace experience across Commercial Airplanes; Defense, Space & Security; and corporate headquarters. He was appointed Boeing’s chief financial officer in 2011 and later served in an expanded role as the executive vice president of Finance, Enterprise Performance and Strategy. He previously was corporate controller and vice president of Finance, serving as the company's principal interface with the board of directors' audit committee to ensure regulatory compliance.

Earlier in his career, Smith was vice president of Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis, leading business plan development, financial forecasting, financial analysis and capital commitment planning, as well as competitive analysis and benchmarking. Prior to 2008, Smith served for four years as vice president of Global Investor Relations at Raytheon; before Raytheon, he held key leadership roles in supply chain, factory operations, finance, and program management at Boeing.

Smith joined the American Airlines board of directors in January 2022. He also serves on the board of directors of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Healthcare.
