Jim Goetz is a Partner at Sequoia Capital, where they have been an integral part of the firm for 25 years, making early investments in notable technology companies such as Apple, Google, and Airbnb. Appointed Steward of Sequoia in 2012, they co-led the global partnership until 2017, having previously co-led the venture business. Jim co-founded VitalSigns, a pioneer in application performance management, and has served on the boards of multiple companies including Intel and Palo Alto Networks. Recently, they shifted focus towards philanthropy, establishing Mae Philanthropies and Casimir Holdings, which support digital inclusion and education for low-income students. Jim holds a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MSEE from Stanford University.
