ARDMS, incorporated in June 1975, is an independent, nonprofit organization that administers examinations and awards credentials in the areas of diagnostic medical sonography, diagnostic cardiac sonography, vascular technology and musculoskeletal sonography.

The Ultrasound and Sonography Team at ARDMS is responsible for developing and maintaining the standards for diagnostic ultrasound certifications. This includes creating examination content, evaluating and approving credential applications, and ensuring the competency of professionals through rigorous testing and continuous education. The team works to advance the field of diagnostic medical sonography and improve patient care by promoting high-quality ultrasound practices globally.

The Content Creation Team at ARDMS is responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating examination items and materials for the organization's various sonography credentials. Team members, including specialized item writers, create precise and relevant content to ensure the certification exams maintain high standards of accuracy and relevance in the fields of diagnostic medical, cardiac, vascular, and musculoskeletal sonography.
