Michael Patterson, PhD MPH, currently serves as a Program Manager at IARPA since March 2021, focusing on programs that integrate genomics, microbiology, and machine learning. Prior to this role, Michael participated in the CNAS Shawn Brimley Next Generation National Security Leaders Fellowship from January 2021 to January 2022. Michael has extensive experience as the Lead Scientist at Quantitative Scientific Solutions (2017-2021), and as a Senior Consultant/Science Lead at Booz Allen Hamilton (2015-2017). Earlier career highlights include a postdoctoral fellowship at SRI International, where research centered on MERS-CoV, and a significant tenure as a Graduate Research Assistant at UTMB, encompassing over 40 independent studies and the establishment of a reverse genetics system for Machupo virus. Michael holds a PhD in Experimental Pathology, an MPH in Epidemiology-Infectious Disease, and a BA in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology, complemented by international research experience.
