Jason Bui has worked in a variety of roles since 2015. From 2015-2017, they were the Co-Captain of the Rice University Concrete Canoe team, where they managed an 8-member team to build and race a canoe made of concrete at the Texas-Mexico Regional competition. During this time, they also wrote and presented a conference paper on engineering ethics surrounding the design codes that engineers should follow when working in foreign countries. In 2017, they were the Team Leader for a Senior Design Project at Rice University, where they led a 6-member team to design and build a teaching laboratory to demonstrate the Rankine cycle to undergraduate students. Jason also designed a Tesla turbine, sensor network, and piping network for the laboratory, and managed a $20,000 budget. From 2019-2020, they were an Intern at Slater Matsil, LLP, where they researched potential intellectual property clients in the Dallas area and assisted in the writing of a patent opinion letter. Currently, they are an Associate Mechanical Engineer and Intern at Intelon Optics.
Jason Bui attended Weston Highschool from 2010 to 2014 and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University in 2018. Jason has also obtained several certifications, including an Excel Skills for Business: Essentials certificate from Coursera in March 2022, an edX Verified Certificate for CS50's Introduction to Computer Science in January 2022, a Build a Modern Computer from First Principles: Nand to Tetris Part II (project-centered course) certificate from Coursera in August 2020, and a Build a Modern Computer from First Principles: From Nand to Tetris (Project-Centered Course) certificate from Coursera in June 2020.
