Allen Wehrmann

Senior Groundwater Engineer

Allen Wehrmann is a Senior Groundwater Engineer at INTERA Incorporated, with a distinguished career in groundwater resource development and contamination investigations that began at the Illinois State Water Survey in 1977 and spanned 34 years. As the former Head of the Water Survey’s Groundwater Section, now known as the Center for Groundwater Science, they oversaw significant research and public service initiatives, including assessments of long-term groundwater availability in Illinois. Notably, Wehrmann contributed to the development of groundwater criteria for a low-level radioactive waste disposal facility in the 1990s and served on a governor-appointed task force regarding mine blasting impacts. Since 2014, Wehrmann has been semi-retired, focusing on groundwater consulting and personal interests such as photography. They hold a B.S.C.E. in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University.
