Damon Chiu

Damon Chiu has a diverse background in data science and analytics. Damon is currently working at Interac Corp., where they started in 2018. Damon has held various roles at Interac, including Data Science Lead and Senior Data Scientist. In these roles, they have worked on building anomaly detection models, creating financial forecasts, and using machine learning models in PySpark and Jupyter Lab. Prior to Interac, Damon worked as an Analytics Specialist at Symbility, where they optimized SQL code and provided deliverables for clients. Damon also worked as a Data Analyst Lead at Clearly, where they retrieved web-scraped competitor prices, built a customer lifetime value model, and managed reports through Microsoft Power BI. Damon has instructional experience as well and worked as an Instructor at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, leading a Fintech Bootcamp. Damon began their career as a Claims Administrator at Best Buy Canada, where they streamlined reconciliation processes and reconciled thousands of claims using Excel and PL/SQL. Damon Chiu, MMA completed their education with a Master's Degree in Management Analytics from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University in 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration - BBA from Simon Fraser University. In addition to their formal education, Damon has obtained various certifications in data science and programming from DataCamp and Coursera, including Extreme Gradient Boosting with XGBoost, Fraud Detection in Python, and R Programming.
