Karen Deng has a diverse range of work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Karen most recently worked at Interac Corp., where they held the position of Director of Strategy & Innovation from July 2021 onwards. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Manager of Strategy, Innovation Partnerships, and Emerging Solutions at the same company from October 2019 to July 2021.
Before joining Interac Corp., Karen worked at MaRS Discovery District as a Manager of Impact & Evaluation from April 2017 to October 2019. Prior to this, they were an Impact Evaluation Specialist at the same company from March 2016 to April 2017.
Karen also worked as a Manager of Research and Strategy at Lifesaving Society Canada from November 2015 to March 2016, and as a Research Coordinator in the Health Promotion, Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention department at Public Health Ontario from January 2014 to November 2015.
Additionally, Karen worked at Health Canada as a Contracts and Contributions Officer from May 2012 to August 2013, as a Project Coordinator at Queen's University from October 2011 to April 2012, and as a Research Coordinator in the Department of Family Medicine at The University of British Columbia from May 2010 to September 2011.
Karen Deng has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Environmental Studies from Queen's University. Karen also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Victoria. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including the Workplace Mental Health Leadership Certificate from Queen's University, the Negotiations - Executive Programs Certificate from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management, and the Credentialed Evaluator certification from the Canadian Evaluation Society. Karen also holds certifications in Project Management from the University of Toronto and Standard First Aid with CPR C + AED from St. John Ambulance | St. John Council for Ontario. Furthermore, Karen has the Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS2: CORE) Certification from the Panel on Research Ethics Canada.
