Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Intercom

Cathal H. has extensive work experience in the tech industry, with a focus on machine learning engineering, developer support engineering, and customer services engineering. Cathal began their career in 2000 at Xilinx, where they worked as an embedded software engineer, primarily developing software in C and low-level assembly languages for Xilinx FPGAs. Cathal also developed software for testing features of the Xilinx FPGA family. In 2006, Cathal H. joined Openmind Networks as a senior software design engineer, where they were involved in the design, development, and maintenance of an Anti-Spam product for the SMS market. This role required collaboration with customers to gather market requirements and design solutions in C and Python. Cathal later took on the role of senior customer services engineer, focusing on deployment and migration tasks for various SMS-related products. In 2011, Cathal H. joined Amazon as a developer support engineer, providing technical assistance to customers. Currently, they are working at Intercom as a machine learning engineer, having held the positions of developer support engineer and senior machine learning engineer.

Cathal H. has a diverse educational background. In 1996, they obtained a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from University College Cork. Cathal continued their education and received a Diploma Certificate in Social Sciences from The Open University in 2003. In 2007, Cathal pursued a Bachelor of Arts Evening Degree in Economics and Philosophy at University College Dublin, which they completed in 2007. Later, in 2008, they earned a Master of Philosophy in Psychoanalytic Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Their education journey culminated at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, where they obtained a Master's degree in Business Analytics from 2016 to 2018.
