Bilal Abbasi

Bilal Abbasi is a Staff Scientist at InterDigital, Inc., specializing in AI-driven video coding since November 2025, following the acquisition of Deep Render. Previously, Bilal served as a Senior Research Scientist at Deep Render from September 2021 to November 2025, where innovations in neural video compression and model robustness were achieved. Earlier experience includes a role as a Machine Learning Researcher at Eidos-Montréal from September 2018 to August 2021, contributing to machine learning projects for notable video games. Bilal began an academic career as a Teaching Assistant at McGill University while earning a PhD in Applied Mathematics and holds a Master of Science and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from McMaster University.
