Mahmoud Kamel

Mahmoud Kamel, PhD, is a Senior Staff Engineer at InterDigital, Inc. since July 2020, previously holding the role of Staff Engineer. Prior to this, Mahmoud served as a Data Scientist Intern at Ericsson, focusing on AI-empowered edge computing applications in 5G networks. Mahmoud's academic background includes a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position at McGill University, where research was conducted on edge intelligence and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC). At Concordia University, tenures as a Research Associate and Research and Teaching Assistant involved investigating cloud RAN performance and ultra-dense networks, resulting in publications in high-impact IEEE journals. Previous roles include mobile technology instructor positions at Nokia Siemens Networks, Siemens, and Telecom Egypt. Mahmoud holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University and an MSc in Telecommunication from Cairo University.
