Chris Lawrence has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2004, Chris worked as a Museum Educator at the Museum of Television & Radio, where they taught on-site and distance learning classes on media literacy. In 2006, they became the Co-Director of the Education Department at the New York Hall of Science, leading efforts to innovate education opportunities and promote STEM education.
Chris then joined Mozilla in 2012 as the Vice President, playing a key role in developing and expanding web literacy and digital inclusion initiatives globally. Chris also oversaw the creation of a strategic plan and a global network of leaders advocating for the open internet.
In 2017, Chris co-founded Loup Design & Innovation, a boutique consulting firm specializing in human-centered design and innovation. During their time at Loup, they helped create StoryEngine.io and provided consulting services.
In 2020, Chris took on multiple roles concurrently. Chris became a Senior Program Manager at Grant for the Web, responsible for managing grant programs. Chris also joined the Interledger Foundation as the Head of Programs, overseeing various programs to advance the organization's mission. Additionally, Chris became an RSA Fellow at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, further expanding their involvement in promoting positive social change.
Chris Lawrence holds a Bachelor's degree in Mass Media from James Madison University, which was obtained between the years 1992 and 1995. Prior to that, they attended Bradley University from 1990 to 1992 for Mass Communication/Media Studies, although they did not complete a degree at that institution. In 2002, Chris pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Arts, specializing in Museum Education, from Bank Street College of Education. In 2010, they served as an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University, teaching Museum Technology. Additionally, Chris Lawrence holds certifications in Social Marketing from Hootsuite Academy and the Mozfest 10 Year Badge from Digital Me, which were obtained in March 2018 and October 2019 respectively.
