George Alexiev

Sr. Geospatial Analyst at Intermap Technologies

George Alexiev began their professional career in 1988 as a Geodetic Engineer and Research Associate for Geoprotection Ltd, where they were responsible for precise 3D monitoring of surface deformations of landslides and hydrological facilities by surveying and photogrammetric methods. In 1992, they moved to Siwinski Land Surveyors as a Graduate Surveyor, where they were a field party leader and was responsible for relocation of boundary monuments for subdivision, consolidation of urban lots, farms, detail and contour surveys, and setting-out buildings and roads. In 1993, they took an internship at the Surveyor-General Office, where they were responsible for cadastral plan examinations and registration, aerial survey flight planning for a dam basin and irrigation area, and volumetric calculations. In 1994, they became a Registered Land Surveyor at Van Zijl, Knootze & Beek in Johannesburg, RSA, where they were responsible for cadastral surveys, farm and urban boundary definition, gas pipelines set-out, easements, as-built surveys, office duties, coordinate calculations, adjustments, and cadastral data datum transformations. In 1996, they moved to ATS in Sydney, Australia, as a Surveyor, where they were responsible for automated field data acquisition for detail and contour mapping, volumetric, excavation, drainage surveys, flood prevention, high-rise building survey layout, and CAD drafting. In 1997, they joined P.W. Rygate & Co (Est.1897) in Sydney, Australia, as a Graduate Surveyor/Crew Chief, where they were responsible for survey party leadership and precision structural deformation monitoring, engineering, set-out, detail and boundary surveys. In 1999, they took a break from the workforce to focus on parenting. In 2002, they began their current role as a Sr. Geospatial Analyst at Intermap Technologies, Inc., where they are responsible for the IPS (Interferometric Processing System) efficient operation, Level1&2 Production Support, IFSAR SW development technical assistance and testing, processing support, troubleshooting, SW updates installation and release. George also served as an IFSAR Data Processor/Team lead, where their duties included IP team lead (2006/7), Interferometric data processing and troubleshooting, projects set-up, segmentation, raw radar data unload, TIF and DEM QC, Range QC, interpretation and corvec modeling out, Tie Lines GCP control, and final DSM tiles inspection.

George Alexiev attended the Sydney Institute of Technology in Australia in 1998, where they studied GIS & Desktop Mapping. George then attended UACEG (University of Architecture, Civil Eng. and Geodesy) in Sofia, Bulgaria from 1983 to 1988, where they earned an M.Sc in Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography.
