Michael Gold

CEO at Intermedia

Michael Gold leads Intermedia, a Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) and business cloud email provider that delivers easy-to-use and secure communication and collaboration solutions. Gold joined Intermedia in 2011 when he and former SAVVIS CEO Phil Koen partnered with private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners to acquire the company from its founder. In February 2017, Oak Hill Capital Partners, with the assistance of Gold and the other members of senior management, completed the sale of the company to current private equity sponsor, Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP), and management.

Under Gold's leadership, Intermedia has more than tripled revenues, operating profits, users and product offerings. The company has transformed from a business email and web hosting company to a leading provider of a broad yet tightly integrated suite of cloud applications. Furthermore, Intermedia has evolved from being a mostly direct-to-business provider to a channel-first company with more than 80% of Intermedia’s new sales now coming from its partners. As part of the MDP family, Gold and Intermedia management will accelerate growth and Intermedia's leadership position, while identifying opportunities to best support businesses and the channel partners that serve them.

Gold has 20+ years of senior management experience in cloud services and channel development. Before joining Intermedia, Gold was CEO of Zlago, a cloud services company he founded and grew via a nationwide network of managed service providers, VARs, and other channel partners. Intermedia acquired Zlago in 2011. Previously, Gold was a Senior Vice President at cloud automation provider, Parallels. Gold came to Parallels through its acquisition of Sphera, a cloud services company where he served as CEO.

Gold has held a variety of other executive roles in the industry, including CEO of software company, Vicorp, and Senior Vice President of Qwest Communications, where he had P&L responsibility for the Internet Products business and launched Qwest's CyberCenter datacenter and hosting business. Gold holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Stanford University.
