Jared Burks

Chief Scientific Advisor at Intersect Diagnostics

Jared Burks is Chief Scientific Advisor to Intersect Diagnostics, where he helps guide corporate strategy through scientific and technical insight into the rapidly evolving field of high parameter biomarker discovery. Jared is Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Flow Cytometry and Cellular Imaging Core facility at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a world-renowned expert in his field, Jared is an invited speaker and panelist at national and international symposia and conferences. During his doctorate training he identified importin-alpha-16, a shuttling protein involved in moving integral membrane proteins through the nuclear pore complex, and he also developed spinning-disk confocal imaging assays as a basic core service. His postdoctoral work at Baylor College of Medicine focused on viral protein trafficking in infected cells. Jared holds a BS in Molecular Biology from Florida Institute of Technology and a PhD in Biology from Texas A&M University.
