John Atkinson

John Atkinson serves as the Managing Director and Chairman of Marsh Chicago, a position held since August 2021. In September 2023, John was appointed Chairman of Intersect Illinois by Governor Pritzker to spearhead economic development initiatives in the state. Previously, John held the role of Chairman of the Illinois Board of Higher Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the State Universities Retirement System, both appointed by Governor Pritzker. John's career includes significant leadership roles at Willis Towers Watson and HILB Rogal & Hobbs, where John drove substantial business growth. John Atkinson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Benedictine University and has contributed to the insurance industry as a managing partner in various firms, notably growing Thilman Filippini into one of the largest privately held brokers in the U.S.
