James Choung

James Choung has a diverse work experience that spans over several industries and roles. James began their career in 1994 as a Site Coordinator at Seattle's Union Gospel Mission. James then worked as a Teaching Assistant at the MIT Public Service Center in 1995. That same year, they became a Campus Staff Minister at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, a role they held until 1996.

From 1996 to 2001, Choung served as a Pastor and Seminary Intern at Cambridge Community Fellowship Church. In 1999, they also took on the role of Intern Pastor at Onnuri Community Church.

In 2002, Choung became a Team Leader at MIT for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, and they later served as Co-Team Leader from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2009, they were a Divisional Director in San Diego for the same organization. James then became the National Director of Asian American Ministries from 2009 to 2013. From 2013 to 2017, Choung served as the National Director of Evangelism, and in 2017, they took on the role of Vice President of Strategy & Innovation at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA.

Apart from their work at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, Choung also had roles at other organizations. James was an author at InterVarsity Press starting in 2008. From 2012 to 2015, they served as the Executive Director of Vineyard Underground. Choung also worked as a Faculty Associate at Bethel Seminary San Diego from 2008 to 2015. In 2020, they became an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Evangelism at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Choung is also a public speaker and has given plenary speeches at various conferences, churches, and educational institutions. Some notable speaking engagements include Amplify, Exponential SoCal, Foursquare Diversity Summit, and many others.

James Choung has a Doctor of Ministry degree in Postmodern Leadership Development from Fuller Theological Seminary, which they obtained from 2003 to 2008. James also holds a degree in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they completed from 1991 to 1995, with a focus on Marketing and Psychology.
