Bill Patterson

Director of R&D at Intuitive Bioscience

Bill Patterson has worked in the biotechnology field since 1982. Bill began their career at Bayer Diagnostics as an Associate Research Scientist. Bill then moved to Promega in 1992, where they worked as a Senior Research Scientist, performing independent research in the areas of nucleotide triphosphate synthesis, nucleic acid purification and manipulation, protein expression, purification, and characterization, and in vitro transcription and translation development. Bill also assisted with the implementation of ISO 9000 quality systems. In 2004, they moved to Pierce Biotechnology as a Senior Research Scientist. Bill then joined Primorigen Biosciences in 2006 as Senior Director of R&D, where they were responsible for cloning of gene sequences, protein expression, and protein purification, and supervised monoclonal antibody development. Bill also assisted in writing grants and patent applications. In 2010, they moved to Gentel Biosciences as Director of Research and Product Development, where they oversaw both feasibility and product development research. Finally, in 2012, they joined Intuitive Biosciences as Director of R&D, where they were responsible for producing multiplexed antigen and antibody microarrays on thin-film nitrocellulose slides and SilverQuant (silver enhancement) detection of gold conjugates.

Bill Patterson completed their Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Religion from the University of Iowa in 1979. Bill then continued their studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, obtaining their Master of Science in Biochemistry in 1982. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1993.
