Dr. Robert Stelzer is a Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where they teach ecology and environmental science while conducting research on the biology and biogeochemistry of lakes and streams. Their current research focuses on a large interdisciplinary study of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABS) in a large lakes system. With a commitment to mentorship, Dr. Stelzer has guided over 50 undergraduate and graduate student researchers, emphasizing the vital connection between education and research. Prior to their current role, they served as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies from 1999 to 2001. Dr. Stelzer earned a PhD in Ecology from the University of Notre Dame and holds a Master's degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from Michigan State University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Rockhurst University.
