Alex Cannon has a diverse work experience in the field of design and art direction. They started their career at The Book Report, Inc. as a Graphic Designer and Web Producer from an unknown start date until February 2011. From November 2009 to June 2012, they worked as a UX/UI Designer - Panda at DoctorBase. They then joined Gawker Media as an Interactive Designer from February 2011 to June 2014, followed by roles as Art Director from June 2014 to December 2015, and Senior Art Director from January 2016 to August 2016. During this time, Alex developed groundbreaking branded content strategies and won the 2016 Digiday Publishing Award for Best Native Advertising. From November 2016 to February 2018, Alex worked as a Senior Art Director at Vox Media, Inc., where they developed highly visual stories for editorial brands. In 2018, Alex had various freelance roles, including as a Freelance Graphic Designer at Combs Enterprises from September 2018 to May 2019, a Freelance Art Director at Futurism from May 2018 to May 2019, a Freelance Art Director at MAIA Agency from August 2018 to October 2020, and a Freelance Graphic Designer at Self Employed from February 2018 to the present. Their most recent role is as a Senior Designer at INVNT®, starting from August 2022.
Alex Cannon completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology, where they attended from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, Alex attended Hunter College from 2003 to 2004, studying Liberal Arts, but did not obtain a degree.
