James Varney has extensive experience in engineering with a focus on process and development consulting. Currently serving as a Development Consultant at io consulting since December 2018, James previously held the role of Principal Process Engineer at Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants from February 2012 to December 2018, where responsibilities included process engineering for conceptual stage developments. Earlier in James's career, participation in the Maersk MITAS Graduate training program occurred from 2008 to 2011, involving roles as a Process/Production Engineer for Maersk Curlew and NSP FPSOs offshore Aberdeen and as a Process Engineer in the Maersk Oil FEED and Concept Department in Copenhagen. James earned a Master of Science in Renewable Energy Systems Technology from Loughborough University between October 2017 and September 2022, following a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham from 2005 to 2008.
