Sam Kimmey

Senior Scientist at Ionpath

Sam Kimmey has a diverse work experience in scientific research and teaching roles. They started their career as a Head Lifeguard at Hillcrest Apartments from July 2010 to August 2012. They then worked as a Teaching Assistant at Stony Brook University from August 2012 to May 2014. During this time, they also served as an Undergraduate Researcher and a URECA Biology Alumni Research Award Fellow, conducting research on stem cell maintenance in developing zebrafish embryos.

In 2014, Sam joined GE Global Research as a Life Sciences & Molecular Diagnostics Intern, focusing on molecular and cellular biology research. They designed experiments and presented their findings to project leaders.

Later, Sam pursued their Ph.D. in Developmental Biology at Stanford University School of Medicine from September 2014 to January 2021. Their research involved investigating early human development using pluripotent stem cells and single-cell proteomics. They focused on building an atlas of single-cell expression of protein regulators during early human development and lineage specification.

Currently, since June 2021, Sam is working as a Field Application Scientist at Ionpath.

Sam Kimmey completed an Honors Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry at the State University of New York at Stony Brook from 2010 to 2014.
