Chris Ballance is an accomplished physicist and leader in quantum computing, currently serving as the President of Quantum Computing at IonQ since October 2025. Previous roles include co-founder and CEO of Oxford Ionics from March 2019 to September 2025, and holding a Future Leaders Fellow and Senior Researcher position at the University of Oxford's Department of Physics from February 2018 to August 2025. Chris Ballance also worked as a Junior Research Fellow at Magdalen College, University of Oxford, from February 2015 to February 2018. Chris Ballance earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics and a Master of Arts (MA) in Physics from the University of Oxford, completing studies in 2015 and 2010, respectively.
